Scope and Contents: This collection contains 252 nineteenth- and twentieth-century maps of the Holy Land and Africa, as well as one 16th-century Munster map (circa 1540; this map is oriented to the south). Most of the maps are individual pages from atlases, now mounted on museum board and enclosed in mylar; some are matted in museum board with a mylar window. Many of the nineteenth- and twentieth-century maps are duplicates from different atlases. As a whole, the collection shows the changing borders of the region and provides context for the historical and geographical events of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
